On August 28, 2018, Norman Bolus, MSPH, MPH, CNMT, FSNMMI-TS,President of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section, kicked off a new working group.

The charge of the working group is to;

  1. Create educational materials for patients.
  2. Develop educational materials for technologists to improve patient satisfaction.
  3. Collaborate with the SNMMI Outreach Committee to develop a practice-based outreach plan for communication of the materials in 1 and 2 above to patients, chief technologists and referring physicians.
  4. Identify technologists in various regions/chapters/localities to help disseminate the materials developed to the patients, chief technologists and referring physicians.

Our vision is to have a QR codes that corresponds to different disease types that technologists, chief technologist or referring physicians could give to our patients to look up exactly what information they need in one click. The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging has developed a treasure trove of information for patients and referring physicians, alike! We just need to make it “findable”! Along with this, our outreach committee is making templates for the chief technologist and referring physicians, so they can get the information they need in one or two quick clicks on the SNMMI website. Hopefully, by doing so, we can; improve awareness of new radiopharmaceuticals and new procedures to patients and referring physicians, and better communicate the value of performing these procedures in the best way possible to our technologists. This working group is chaired by Aileen Staffaroni. Please email her should you have any questions or comments regarding the charges above. Thank you!
